Sola pays verified claims based on data and weather risk
Our payouts are made on the basis of comparing four decades of verified weather data against the proof of damage included in a claim. If you experienced a qualifying weather event at the insured location while covered by Sola and provide proof of damage, that’s it; your payout will be on the way soon, usually in less than five days.
Where does Sola get its weather data?
Instead of relying on hard-to-schedule visits from insurance adjusters or other inspections, Sola makes decisions on its payouts based on known weather data provided through a partnership with the National Weather Service.
How do I get proof of the damage to my home?
When you make a claim on your Sola Wind and Hail Insurance policy, we don’t require a representative visit. We ask for photos of the damaged part of your home, including views from all sides, and a description of the damage that occurred. Including photos of specific damage, such as a broken window pane or missing shingles, is especially important and helpful in supporting your claim.
We do not recommend that homeowners attempt to get rooftop photos for themselves to make a claim. A trustworthy roofer in your area will typically perform a ‘roofing inspection’ without charge to help you get a better idea of the status of your current roof. With the photos provided by this professional, you’ll have the best possible proof in hand of any roof damage that may have occurred because of recent events.
Who inspects the home to confirm damage?
Your Sola policy will always provide coverage without a representative visit from Sola or any other home insurance company. As long as you’re able to provide photo proof of the described damage, the policy is valid.
How do I make a claim on my policy?
You can make a claim through our website, either by accessing our Member Portal through the Log In button in the top right corner of your screen or by contacting Sola through our live chat box, found at the bottom right.
For claims made through your policyholder view, select the File a Claim button on the right side of the screen and complete the short form that follows. Providing as much detail as you have available at the time of the claim creation will speed up the process significantly. In addition to providing a description of the damage to your home, you’ll also have the opportunity to share photos of the damage at this time. Although you can submit the claim form without attaching photos, it is strongly recommended that any available photos be included at this time to avoid unnecessary delays in the review process.
Alternatively, selecting the chat box will connect you with a Sola team member who can walk you through the claims creation process, step by step. As with the portal claims process, having the requested information handy at this time will speed up the process and result in a faster payout to help you cover hail-related expenses and return your home to normal.
How do I know when I’ll get paid?
When you’ve completed the claims process, Sola will analyze the accompanying weather data and calculate the payout based on our pre-defined parameters, as listed on our Coverage page. Most submitted claims are approved within three to five business days, and many are completed even more quickly. After approval, most payouts are deposited within two to three days.
How do you issue payments?
Payouts are deposited directly into your bank account using the banking information shared with Sola during the claims process. Missing payment details can delay the payout process.
Can I make more than one claim a year?
You can make up to two claims per year on a Sola Wind and Hail policy. Once you have made a claim, there will be a 30-day reset period from the date of the claim. After that time, during which it’s assumed that necessary repairs would have been made to the home, your policy allows for one additional claim during the remaining time before the end of the coverage period.
Does a Sola claim or payout affect my premiums?
Sola is a standalone product, completely separate from any other home insurance policy that you may have. Because of this distinction, a claim made with Sola will not appear on your CLUE report or any other historical damage report. That means that your Sola claims have no effect on your standard home insurance or any other coverage you may have purchased.

No, it doesn’t affect your Sola policy
On the Sola side of things, any claims made will not result in higher costs for your wind and hail deductible coverage, and your Sola coverage will not be discontinued following a claim–you will always receive the coverage you’ve paid for, lasting for the entire span of the policy period–minus any reset periods that immediately follow a claim and payout.
